Smash, the Des Moines apparel store, changed its name to Raygun today to avoid a legal shoot-out. Owner Mike Draper will announce the new name at a party this afternoon at the East Village store. Draper received a letter in January that he needed to change the name or face a lawsuit, since an apparel store in Los Angeles has the name. He decided it would be better to rebrand than fight.
