America's First Chemical-Free Public Swimming Pool Opens in North Minneapolis

NORTH MINNEAPOLIS (May 25) - After 10 years, North Minneapolis unveiled the first chemical-free public pool in the country. The pool holds 500,000 gallons of water, filtered every 12 hours through a series of plants and a nearby "regeneration basin" that "contains about 7,000 aquatic plants rooted in layers of limestone and granite to keep the pool clean." The pool is also vacuumed daily, so there you go!
