Luke Skywalker -- Honorary Midwesterner

WISCONSIN (Dec 16) - A Milwaukee historian argues that Luke Skywalker was inspired by Civil War Wisconsonite, Howard Cushing. As many know, Cushing did fly an X-Wing through a narrow trench in the Death Star, firing into a small opening, causing a chain-reaction that destroyed the massive space station, and winning the Battle of Antietem. Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation shortly after to keep Britain out of the war.
